Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Contera Health (“Contera,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a home-care management platform used by home-care agencies and their caregivers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our web application, and the Contera Caregivermobile app (collectively, the “Services”).

Contera is a business-to-business service. Caregiver and administrator accounts are created and provisioned by the home-care agency that employs or contracts with you. The agency is the controller of the care data managed in the Services; Contera processes that data on the agency’s behalf.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the Services:

  • Account & contact information — your name, email address, and phone number, used to authenticate you and maintain your employee profile.
  • User identifiers — an account/user ID assigned to you, used to associate your activity with your account.
  • Precise location (mobile app)— when you clock in or out of a visit, the Contera Caregiver app collects your device’s GPS location to perform Electronic Visit Verification (EVV), confirming that you are at the client’s home. Location is collected only at the moment you clock in or out of a visit — not continuously in the background.
  • Work & scheduling data — visit schedules, clock-in/clock-out times, timesheets, and paid time-off requests that you create or that your agency assigns to you.

We do not use advertising networks, third-party analytics SDKs, or data brokers, and we do not collect data for tracking or advertising.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect solely to provide and support the Services, including to:

  • authenticate you and keep your account secure;
  • display your schedule, visits, and profile;
  • verify your presence at a client’s home (EVV) when you clock in and out;
  • record accurate timesheets and process time-off requests;
  • operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Services; and
  • comply with legal, regulatory, and home-care program requirements.

All data is used for app functionality only. We never sell your personal information.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only as necessary to run the Services:

  • With your agency — your employer or contracting agency can access the schedules, visit records, EVV location, and timesheets associated with your work.
  • With service providers — vendors that host our infrastructure and deliver email on our behalf, bound by contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
  • For legal reasons — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public.

We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, and thereafter as required to meet legal, regulatory, billing, and home-care recordkeeping obligations (for example, EVV and visit records that agencies must retain). When data is no longer required, we delete or de-identify it.

6. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard safeguards, including encryption of data in transit, hashed credentials, role-based access controls, and audit logging. On mobile devices, authentication tokens are stored in the device’s secure storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

7. Your Choices

  • Location — you control location permission through your device settings. EVV clock-in/out requires location, so disabling it will prevent you from verifying visits.
  • Access & corrections — because your agency administers your account, requests to access, correct, or delete your information are handled through your agency. You may also contact us using the details below.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Services are intended for use by adult caregivers and agency staff. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date below and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
